PYRAMID OF EGREGIOUSNESS

There are so many sexist and misogynist words used which turn to a pyramid of hate  and most of these sexist languages are aimed at women. These are just the type of sexist words used against women; SLUT, BITCH, SWEETHEART, CUNT, FEMINAZI, and many others just fall in that category. This sewage system of sexist comments is the latest project in feminism to campaign and critique. The pyramid of Egregiousness was formed and it consists of sexist language which are classified accordingly. It is amazing to gaze at since the tiers are  red and orange. As you move your space bar and click on each tier of the triangle it opens up and inside it contains sexist terminology.

I personally would like to add a few words to the pyramid myself. There is “dark chocolate”,“babe” “baby” “silly woman”,“sweetie pie”,“free pussy”,“man hater”,“unable to take a joke” “cry baby” these words are disrespectful and mean also “shut up woman” to any woman who stands her ground and dares to get angry

The pyramid has three levels: At the base is “just plain sexist”, above it is “really damn sexist” and at the top of the pyramid are words and usages that would qualify as “severe misogyny”. At the top of the pyramid of hate words which are dehumanising hate words filled with sexual innuendo such as “bitch”, “cunt” “whore” “skunk”new entries such as “cougar” and “MILF” which means “Mom I’d like to Fuck”, the first time I came across it, it was splashed across a page and when I continued to read the rest of the article I found the meaning and it was shocking and for women like me who speak their minds, “feminazi” or “fascist feminist” interesting is it not? The second one down the pyramid are considered sexist and backstabbing phrases or euphenisms, words like PMS, “ice queen”, “shrill”, “hag” or “nag” form the list. At the bottom of the pyramid are daily misogynist words. It includes commenting on a woman’s appearance for example “What is with her neckline/skirt?” and labelling a woman as “bossy”, “emotional” or “flighty” etcetera also calling her a “girl”, “a babe” or a “sweetie”.

All the terms are terms of hatred, originally invented not so long ago by men and both sexes use them. These words should not be looked at in isolation but in their context. A word such as emotional, may seem utterly harmless but when calling a woman that it means she is not to be taken seriously, It diminishes her value and what she has to say just as calling a woman bossy when she is being assertive, but when a man does it, he is never called bossy, he is just being assertive.

The pyramid and website were created by a group of American feminists as part of  a Name It Change It Campaign. If you want to help and participate in the campaign to change the sexist language in the media and all around the world, you can log in at the website (nameitchangeit.org) and yes NAME IT and hopefully it will be changed. The pyramid is a focal point a concentration off men’s hate and our anger.

I personally would like to add a few words to the pyramid myself. There is “dark chocolate”,“babe” “baby” “silly woman”,“sweetie pie”,“free pussy”,“man hater”,“unable to take a joke” “cry baby” these words are disrespectful and mean also “shut up woman” to any woman who stands her ground and dares to get angry. I have no idea why us feminists waste our times as “man haters” to explain to misogynists like good little school girls why we do not hate men, how feminism is beneficial to both sexes. I got to also say this: I DO HATE ANY MAN WHO HATES WOMEN AND EXPRESSES HIS HATE IN HIS LANGUAGE, HIS MANNER , HIS BEHAVIOUR AND HIS ART.

How about a word like “cougar” it is offensive and it makes the woman sound like a predator. This word even has a TV  series named after it: COUGAR TOWN. A British TV chef Jamie Oliver made some food for inmates in Venice at a women’s prison and he gave it to them with a leer and the phrase “Here you go, girlies”. What about Mitt Romney when he was talking about why women don’t have jobs in the US economy and how he tried to assist with the situation and he delivered a statement which goes like “a whole binder full of women”, Aren’t all those statements degrading enough?

Words which are innocent such as “she” can be a clever way to insult a woman and belittling as well an example If a man  goes on a date with a woman and when asked how she was he replies “she’s fun.” Even comments such as “that’s nice” or “good for you” if i cook a good meal.

What is going to happen when we are done filling the pyramid and we are exhausted? Are we going to rub it in people’s faces or go from mall to mall to shame people? That will not work misogynists have no shame in attacking women. This is all a coping mechanism. The world has not been changed  yet.

I applaud and thank all those feminists who came up with this great Idea. Although in Africa where I live, it’s a patriarchal society and a lot of men use these sexist comments to refer to women and they do not see anything wrong with it BUT I cannot stand it. I will not rest until I do my part to correct every male or female who uses these misogynist words which calculating is about 90% of the population to ensure fairness and equality between sexes. Until then I will be happy sipping cocktails at the beach and raining torrents of words on any sexist comments that come my way. 😀
